Canadian personal tax deadlines

December 31December 15Fourth quarterly personal tax instalments are due on December 15. You can pay these directly via your bill payment features of your online banking.
December 31December 20Sell non-qualifying assets in your RRSP before December 31
December 31December 27Pay items eligible for tax deductions or credits before December 31, such as alimony & maintenance, child care, investment counsel fees, professional dues, donations, medical expenses, and political contributions.
December 31December 20Taxpayers who turn 71 during the year can make final RRSP contribution and must convert RRSP to RRIF or life annuities by December 31.

Canadian corporate tax deadlines

December 31January 31Date to have your bookkeeping to us if we do your tax returns and financial statements. For details on what we need for the year-end, please contact your accounting manager or director. Not sure who this is? Ask me!
November 30January 31Taxes owing due if your company earns inactive income (such as rent, interest, dividends).
October 31January 31Generally speaking, taxes owing due if your company earns active income which was less than $500,000 last year (for all associated companies). Exceptions apply.
July 31January 31Tax return due.
July 31February 15If there was a year-end bonus, then the payroll remittance is generally due unless you are an “early remitter” and need to remit sooner.
February 28Finalize assembly of remuneration and interest details for T4/T5 for yourself/ bookkeeper/accountant by approximately January 15th for the February 28th filing deadline.
