Family Trust tax deadlines
Year-End | Hard Deadline | Details |
December 31 | March 31* | Family Trust (T3) tax return filing due. In leap years, due March 30. |
Canadian personal tax deadlines
Hard Deadline | Suggested Deadline | Details |
March 3 | February 15 | Make final RRSP contributions for the previous tax year. For 2025, the deadline is extended to March 30 as the normal 60 day limit falls on the weekend. |
March 15 | March 12 | Remit first quarterly personal tax installment if required. |
March 31 | March 15 | Assemble personal tax return information. Remember to get a form T2200 “Declaration of Conditions of Employment” from your employer where you will be deducting expenses related to your employment. See our personal tax checklists. |
March 15 | March 10 | Deliver personal tax return information to your accountant. |
Canadian corporate tax deadlines
Year-end | Deadline | Details |
February 28 | March 31 | Date to have your bookkeeping to us if we do your tax returns and financial statements. For details on what we need for the year-end, please contact your accounting manager or director. Not sure who this is? Ask me! |
January 31 | March 31 | Taxes owing due if your company earns inactive income (such as rent, interest, dividends). |
December 31 | March 31 | Generally speaking, taxes owing due if your company earns active income which was less than $500,000 last year (for all associated companies). Exceptions apply. |
September 30 | March 31 | Tax return due. |
September 30 | April 15 | If there was a year-end bonus, then the payroll remittance is generally due unless you are an “early remitter” and need to remit sooner. |
December 31 | March 31 | Submit T5013 partnership information returns. Some exceptions apply but most partnerships require a December 31 year-end and have a March 31 deadline for filing. |
