February tax deadlines & calendar

Family Trust tax deadlines

March 31February 1Have all information assembled for your family trust and into your accountant for preparation. The return is due March 31 except in leap years when it is March 30.

Canadian personal tax deadlines

March 3February 15Make final RRSP contributions for the previous tax year. For 2025, the deadline is extended to March 30 as the normal 60 day limit falls on the weekend.

Canadian corporate tax deadlines

January 31February 28Date to have your bookkeeping to us if we do your tax returns and financial statements. For details on what we need for the year-end, please contact your accounting manager or director. Not sure who this is? Ask me!
December 31February 28Taxes owing due if your company earns inactive income (such as rent, interest, dividends).
November 30February 28Generally speaking, taxes owing due if your company earns active income which was less than $500,000 last year (for all associated companies). Exceptions apply.
August 31February 28Tax return due.
August 31March 15If there was a year-end bonus, then the payroll remittance is generally due unless you are an “early remitter” and need to remit sooner.
All year-endsFebruary 28Finalize assembly of remuneration and interest details for T4/T5 for yourself/ bookkeeper/accountant by approximately January 15th for the February 28th filing deadline.
